Thinking about Coming Back to Work in Home Care?
What are home care wages and home care rates in 2022?
First the big news. The rates are going up by $2 an hour in October and another $1 next year.
This wage increase is part of the NYS budget that was passed in April 2022. The group that worked very hard with legislators including providers like Caring Professionals, grass roots groups, unions, and provider associations had hoped for a lot more and to get Fair Pay for Home Care passed. Nevertheless, it is progress and we continue to advocate for more dollars for this important caregiving work.
This increase is for PCAAs and HHAs who work in traditional home care programs (licensed home care agencies, LHCSAs, and certified home health care agencies, CHHAs). Personal Assistants in the CDPAP (Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program) who work with Fiscal Intermediaries are also included.
Meanwhile, you have questions. What does CDPAP pay? What does CDPAP pay in NYC? What does CDPAP pay in Westchester County? What does CDPAP pay in Nassau County? Do I get benefits?
There are different rates in these counties based on a law passed in 2012 called wage parity.
Caring Professionals currently pays the top rates in each county.
These are:
- NYC pay rates for CDPAP – $18 going up to $20.
- Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester pay rates for CDPAP- $17.50 going to $19.50.
- Rest of NYS pay rates for CDPAP (2024) – $17.55.
